According to a bodybuilding site, "Forskolin mimics the effects of calorie restriction and exercise, even for those who are not dieting or exercising."

It mainly acts by increasing the levels of secondary cellular messenger cyclic adenosine monophosphate (CAMP) which is involved in several different physiological processes related to metabolism.

The goal of cutting chakras is to lose fat while maintaining lean body mass and strength. In clinical studies, Forskolin has been shown to increase lean mass while reducing body fat composition. It can work by increasing testosterone levels and anabolic activity.

Users choose Forskolin for bodybuilding because some research supports its use for these purposes. However, the research is not conclusive. There is only a small number of studies that have examined its efficacy for bodybuilding in humans.

Forskolin is also responsible for assisting with lipid breakdown and reduced appetite, although substantial clinical trials and research findings are not confirming this intention to note the National Institutes of Health. [1]

Research study results
A double-blind, randomized and placebo-controlled study of overweight and obese men found that participants who had a 50% improvement in anatomy of forskolin per day. In this study, participants took 250 mg of Coleus Forskohlii extract twice daily for 12 weeks. [2]

Compared to individuals taking a placebo, men gave forskolin extract significantly higher bone mass, lower body fat percentage and lower fat mass on them in the placebo group. Over the test period, the skin lost 7.8 times a placebo giving them more body fat.

The researchers also found that this herb promoted a significant increase in total testosterone levels in the 34% treatment group. Researchers have speculated that an increase in testosterone levels will explain more and more muscle mass and a decrease in fat mass.

A separate double-blind, randomized and placebo-controlled study was conducted with the same dose. Women in slightly overweight did not find weight loss results from Forskolin but noted a lower gain in body weight as well as less appetite. [3]

Another small open-label study gave participants 500 mg Coleus forskohlii extract with 10 percent Forskolin twice daily. After eight weeks, participants' body weight, BMI, basal metabolic rate and fat content were significantly lower. [4] In this study, lean body mass was also reduced.

These three studies yielded different results in different populations. Before determining that forskolin is effective for bodybuilding, it is important to train athletes and evaluate its effects on individuals who are not overweight or obese.

Further research is needed to determine whether the results are influenced by dosage, user group, health status, and other factors.


 
User results
The majority of individuals who take forskolin are using it to promote weight loss, though it is becoming more popular as a muscle building and testosterone enhancing supplement.

On Amazon.com, user review ratings vary by product and brand. C-Bolic, a supplement that claims to contain 95 percent pure Forskolin Extract, has mostly positive user reviews.

Many users left a bodybuilding review of this product, noting that they used to cut it. Users claim that they saw weight loss results from C-Bolic. Reported the lack of some negative review results.

One user reported digestive problems and another felt "sharp." Many other varieties, including Vimerson Health Forskolin Weight Loss Supplement, have a mix of positive, negative and neutral reviews.

For this product, many reviews claim to help product users lose weight, while some reviewers report no results. [6, 7]

On WebMD, Forskolin has a low user review rating. Many users' supplemental claims were ineffective for weight loss. Besides, reviews include numerous reports of side effects, including gas, loose stools, constipation, swollen ankles and swelling. [5]

How To Take A Cutting Cycle
No Forskolin supplements for standardized bodybuilding or other purposes. Note that different products contain different amounts of active forskolin alkalis per serving. Supplements range from 10 to 20% concentrations.

In a dose of two double-blind, randomized and placebo-controlled studies this plant was used to extract 250 mg with a 10 percent concentration twice daily. For general use, 50 mg of Coleus extract with 50% concentration is normally taken 1 to 3 times daily.

It is recommended to take it 20-30 minutes before taking a meal. This supplement has an appetite-suppressing effect which can help users consume less food if it consumes before a meal.
