what to do when fatigue does not go away

It is in the fall that many feel especially tired. Someone blames the blues and the vagaries of the weather, which affect the mood. But it is precisely in the fall that chronic diseases worsen. Therefore, the question now becomes especially urgent: is it just a slight malaise or is there reason to talk about asthenia - fatigue that does not go away even after rest? You can learn more about this in our material.
Just fatigue or asthenia?
Many of us have heard of the so-called chronic fatigue syndrome, but most perceive it as a frivolous or even fictitious disease. However, this condition has an official name - asthenia. This is a whole complex of symptoms - such as increased fatigue, weakness, decreased performance.

We explain the difference between asthenia and just fatigue with examples.

If you have worked hard at work over the schedule or trained too much before participating in the race, then fatigue is quite normal. If the feeling of fatigue does not leave even with the usual work schedule or any minimal physical exertion, we can talk about asthenia.

Other characteristic signs of asthenia
One of the characteristic signs of asthenia is a feeling of tiredness after waking up from sleep, that is when even a full 8-hour night sleep does not help to rest. True, sometimes you only have to dream about a full sleep with asthenia: in this condition, you feel drowsiness during the day, but in the evening it is difficult to fall asleep, and then you can still wake up several times a night. As a result, there may be a decrease in working capacity, a violation of concentration and weakness. All this can accompany unpleasant symptoms such as headaches and irritability. Causes of asthenia
Asthenia can be of two types: it can be caused by some diseases or be the result of a lifestyle.

The first type is increased weakness and fatigue due to current or previous disease. We all remember the state of weakness during a common cold. The asthenic syndrome is characteristic of many moderate and severe diseases - from acute respiratory viral infections to irritable bowel syndrome. Normally, such asthenia disappears after recovery, but in some cases, it can become chronic: for example, if bed rest or other doctor's recommendations are not observed during treatment and recovery.

The second type is asthenia, which occurs due to an improper lifestyle. Unfortunately, such a lifestyle in megacities is considered the norm:

permanent involvement in the work 24/7 with correspondence in work chats after hours,
an obsessive desire to get enough sleep in 5 hours, so as not to "waste precious time" on sleep,
an overestimated bar and constant comparison of oneself with others: there is no feeling of satisfaction from one’s activity because the environment requires to be “faster, higher, stronger”, encourages to be proactive or writes in lazy people,
a huge role in the prevalence of asthenia in modern society is played by the fact that people are almost continuously connected to gadgets: this creates both mental and physical stress.
